The pitch
Beasts of the Field is an iOS creature-collection RPG where the creatures are your photographs. Photograph a dog, a fern, a Jeep, or a very committed boulder; the app identifies it, lifts it off its background, and it becomes a fighter with stats, moves, and a type. There is no authored roster: the first player ever to photograph a subject mints its species for everyone, with their name on the discovery forever. Then the photographs fight: turn-based battles against a bot host, gym-leader style Beast Masters, a solo campaign, and asynchronous matches against friends. The whole game is styled as a nineteenth-century naturalist's field journal.

What makes it different
- The bestiary has no last page. Species are minted by players' first-ever photographs at real, breed-level names ("Pug", "Canary"), and rarity comes from real-world observation data. The register grows as the world gets photographed.
- Discovery is credited. Every species page, in the app and on the public web bestiary, names its discoverer. "New to Science" is the game's most coveted stamp.
- Your photo is the art. Apple Vision lifts the subject clean off its background; that cutout is the creature everywhere, including in your friends' battles against you.
- Real battle depth. Ten types in a beats-two web, six stats, status conditions, priority, stat stages, 300+ moves with Gen-3-era balance, five-plus-five Beast Masters, and a ten-zone solo campaign on a hand-drawn living map.
- A committed aesthetic. Warm paper, wax seals, typewriter stamps, engraved avatars, and an in-fiction host, Lord Beastmont, inventor of the beast-capturing field camera.
In Lord Beastmont's words
"Photograph a beast properly and it takes more than a likeness. It takes the BEAST. And what does one DO with a journal full of beasts? Ha! The finest thing of all. They fight."
